Eastern Nepal Trek

Eastern Nepal Trek provides an opportunity to explore cultural & spiritual knowledge, and its goals in eastern part of Nepal. This Trekking region offers magnificent views of mountain include Mt. Makalu, an eastern approach to Mt. Everest, and Mt. Kanchenjunga. There is endless variety in this part of the country and camping is mandatory.

The most popular trekking areas are the Makalu Barun National park and the Kanchenjunga National park. This eastern region was opened for trekkers only in 1988 however it is still underdeveloped and trekkers must be fully self-sufficient. Greatly populated Middle Hills are gouged by the strong Arun Kosi, which is flanked by the massifs of Kanchenjunga and Makalu. Kanchenjunga is the world’s third highest mountain in the world and lies on the Nepal-Sikkim border.

Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world and its base camp is reached by walking up the beautiful and lush Arun Valley and crossing Shipton La (4127m). Most ethnic groups of this trek are represented and many villages, such as Dhankuta, Khandbari and Bhojpur are large, prosperous and clean. Makalu Base Camp offers great views of Makalu, Everest, and Lhotse, Baruntse and other peaks.
