How to prepare for 3-day Everest Base Camp Trek?

To prepare for a 3-day Everest Base Camp Trek, you should follow and complete various processes. Let’s discuss preparation for short Everest Base Camp trek in detail.

Stay healthy

If you are planning a trek to the Everest Base Camp, whether it's the full 12-day trek or the short 3-day trek, you must be healthy. You should stay hydrated and nutritious in order to complete your trip with a memorable experience. People with complicated health conditions should take extra care of themselves and consult their doctor if they really want to go on this adventurous and challenging journey.

Research before going for trip

While preparing for a short EBC trip, you must know briefly about the trip details and the agency you are hiring. Revise the reviews given by other trekkers on various sites about them and book when they meet your expectations perfectly rather than regretting later. Research the weather and temperature of the place before finalizing your trip plan, as weather causes a significant impact during your trek.

Hire Guide and Porters

Trekking with a licensed guide is compulsory in the Everest region, whereas Porter is not mandatory. But hiring a porter helps you sustain your journey as they carry your heavy bags and you can trek freely. So hiring a porter and guide provides you with a comfortable journey.

Travel Insurance

While travel insurance is not mandatory, it saves a lot of trouble while trekking. If you face some accidents or altitude sickness, this helps to cover your medical bill. If you have to cancel your flight or feel uncomfortable while returning from base camp, it helps to cover your flight expenses. So, travel insurance ensures you're a comfortable trip.

Adjust to the climate and altitude

The altitude of the trek is quite high, so you must try hiking at high altitude before officially going for the Base Camp trek to avoid any obstacles during your journey. You can do exercises and yoga in order to let your body adjust to the tiredness during the trek. If you hike at higher altitude before officially beginning the trek, it will help your body acclimatize at higher altitude.

Challenges and difficulties of the Quickest Everest Base Camp Trek

The Quickest Everest Base Camp Trek is a moderately challenging trek in Nepal’s Everest region. Starting at an altitude of 2,800 meters from Lukla, this trek ends at 5,545 meters at Kalapatthar. Although the itinerary of the short Everest Base Camp Trek includes only 2 days of walking, the walking hours are quite longer, making trekkers exhausted and tired.

During this short trek, you will not get a chance to acclimatize, which increases the chance of altitude sickness. You will take a helicopter ride to the Kalapatthar and Everest base camp and return to Kathmandu, which can be cancelled if a slight change of weather happens, as it is dangerous to fly during unstable weather conditions. Travelling continuously for 3 days can be troublesome for you, and your body may feel completely drained.
