Group Join Manaslu Circuit Trek - Guaranteed Departure 2026/2027

  • Last Updated on Aug 19, 2026

Our Manaslu Circuit Group Join Trek is designed for solo travellers, couples, and small groups who want to join a fixed departure rather than arrange a private trek. For autumn 2026, we have guaranteed departures from late September through November, following our 12-day route from Kathmandu to Machha Khola, across Larkya La Pass (5,160 m), and out through Bimthang and Tilje.

Group joining costs start from USD 985 per person, with the required Manaslu trekking permits, licensed guide, teahouse accommodation, meals during the trek, and scheduled transportation included according to the itinerary. Porter service is available as an optional addition.

For our scheduled departures, guaranteed means the trek operates on the confirmed date even when the group remains small. This is particularly useful for solo travellers who want to meet other trekkers on the same departure without having to organize their own group before coming to Nepal.

Why Join a Guaranteed Group Trek to Manaslu Circuit in 2026/2027?

Join a guaranteed-departure group trek to the Manaslu Circuit in 2026/2027 in order to get some of the most useful benefits over convenience. Most importantly, the term "guaranteed departure" is really a promise that your trek will actually leave on the specified date regardless of how many trekkers book up. Unlike low-threshold flexible departures, guaranteed groups continue to depart with a small group of trekkers. This ends all the uncertainty and has you planning your whole trek ahead of time, booking flights to and from international destinations, taking time off work, or getting stoked and in training for what is to come.

Shared experience is another significant strength. Walking Manaslu's lesser-traveled paths is as much about the individuals you share the trek with as it is about achieving Larky La Pass (5,106 m). Group trekking fosters an instant camaraderie. You trade daily challenges and victories, share cultural commentary, laugh together over plentiful meals in teahouses, and watch out for one another on snowy, steep switchbacks. Nights are improved in the company of friends, and on longer stretches, conversation propels the kilometers by more quickly.

Economically and logistically, group trekking makes climbing less expensive. All the services required, porters, guides, and permits, are paid for in an initial fee. If you are traveling independently or for a private group, you pay for the majority of that expense. But with group booking, all expenses are equally shared among members without reducing quality service per person. You even receive group booking rates on travel and accommodation that only setup agencies with group packages can offer.

Group travel in the Manaslu involves an extra level of security and safety. Licensed English-speaking guides who are familiar with the region are typically used by most group treks. Guides undergo training in first aid, altitude sickness treatment, and crisis management. If illness, accident, or bad weather works its way into your itinerary, having experienced guides and fellow travelers on hand with you can prove a lifesaver and an emotional one at that.

Fixed groups are appropriate for beginners at high-altitude trekking or self-guided trekkers. If you have no idea about trekking remote trails alone or you are visiting Nepal for the first time, group trekking avoids the hassle of planning and selection. Transportation and lodging are organized, as are dinner each night and acclimatization stops, so you can simply soak up the trek and enjoy the breathtaking Himalayan views.

Overall, a guaranteed-departure group offers security, social support, affordability, and professional advice, and it is one of the most intelligent and worthwhile options for trekking the Manaslu Circuit.

Best Time to Join the Group Manaslu Trek

The best times to join a Manaslu Circuit group trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to November). These seasons generally provide the most favorable combination of trail conditions, mountain visibility, and temperatures for trekking through the upper Manaslu region and crossing Larkya La Pass.

Autumn, from late September through November, is the main season for our Manaslu group departures. After the summer monsoon, the route generally has more settled weather and good mountain visibility, with views toward Manaslu, Himalchuli, and Ngadi Chuli from different sections of the trail. Daytime temperatures are often comfortable for walking, while mornings and nights become progressively colder as the group moves toward Samagaun, Samdo, and Dharmasala. Autumn also overlaps with Nepal's major Dashain and Tihar festival period in many years, so travellers visiting around the festival dates may see celebrations and holiday activity before or during their journey. October and early November are particularly popular, and teahouses in the upper villages can be busier during peak trekking weeks.

Spring, from March through May, is another good season for joining a Manaslu group trek. Conditions generally become warmer as the season progresses, while rhododendrons and other spring flowers appear along the forested lower sections of the route. Mountain visibility can be excellent, although afternoon cloud tends to become more common later in spring. Higher on the circuit, mornings and nights remain cold, and snow or ice can still affect conditions around Larkya La Pass, particularly after fresh snowfall.

Manaslu Circuit group trek during the spring season

Winter, from December through February, is much less predictable for a Manaslu Circuit group departure. Temperatures fall sharply in the upper valley, snow can accumulate around Dharmasala and Larkya La Pass, and some teahouses may close or operate with limited services. A pass crossing can also be delayed or become impractical after heavy snowfall. For these reasons, we do not schedule our regular group departures through the main winter period and assess any private winter request according to current trail, accommodation, and weather conditions.

The monsoon months from June through August are also outside our regular Manaslu group departure season. Rain affects the lower approach through the Budhi Gandaki Valley, where trails can become muddy and landslides may disrupt road access or sections of the route. Leeches are common on some of the warmer, forested lower trails, while cloud and rain can reduce mountain visibility. We therefore concentrate our scheduled group departures in the more reliable spring and autumn trekking seasons.

For our scheduled Manaslu group departures, we therefore focus on spring and autumn, when conditions are generally more suitable for completing the full circuit and crossing Larkya La Pass. Travellers planning around a specific month should still allow some flexibility, as weather and trail conditions in the high Himalayas can change from one departure to another.

Who Is the Manaslu Circuit Group Trek Suitable For?

The Manaslu Circuit Group Trek is best suited to travellers who are comfortable with consecutive days of mountain walking and prepared for a remote high-altitude route. Previous Himalayan trekking experience is helpful but not essential, although regular hiking, hill walking, running, cycling, or other endurance training will make the trek more manageable. Most trekking days involve around 6 to 8 hours of walking, with longer and more demanding sections as the route gains altitude.

First-time high-altitude trekkers can also join, provided they arrive well prepared and understand that Manaslu is not an easy introductory trek. Our itinerary includes acclimatization time before Larkya La Pass, and the guide monitors how group members are adjusting as the route climbs through Samagaun, Samdo, and Dharmasala. Anyone experiencing problems at altitude should communicate them early rather than trying to keep pace with the group.

The group format works particularly well for solo travellers, couples, friends, and trekkers who prefer company on a remote route without arranging their own private departure. Everyone does not need to walk at exactly the same speed, but you should be comfortable following the planned itinerary and reaching the day's destination within a reasonable trekking time.

The route also suits travellers interested in the communities of the upper Manaslu region. As the trail climbs through the Nubri Valley, monasteries, mani walls, prayer wheels, stone villages, livestock, and Tibetan Buddhist traditions remain part of everyday life. Staying in local teahouses gives the group regular contact with the villages rather than simply passing through them.

A group departure may be less suitable if you want complete control over your daily pace, additional rest days, frequent itinerary changes, or private arrangements throughout the trek. In those cases, a private Manaslu Circuit Trek generally provides greater flexibility.

Travellers interested in our route, permits, accommodation, inclusions, and daily itinerary can find complete details in our Manaslu Circuit Trek package.

Is Group Join Manaslu Trek Difficult?

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a moderately challenging high-altitude trek, with most days involving around 5 to 8 hours of walking. The route gradually gains elevation through the Budhi Gandaki and upper Nubri valleys before reaching Larkya La Pass at 5,160 meters. The difficulty comes mainly from consecutive trekking days, increasing altitude, rough and uneven trail sections, and the long pass-crossing day rather than technical climbing.

Our group itinerary includes acclimatization time before crossing Larkya La Pass, allowing the group to gain altitude at a more gradual pace. The guide also monitors how trekkers are adjusting as the route moves higher. You normally carry your own daypack, while porter service can be added separately if you prefer support with your main trekking bag.

Previous experience with multi-day hiking, hill walking, or regular endurance exercise is useful but not essential. Fit and well-prepared beginners can join, although you should be comfortable walking for several hours on consecutive days and understand that conditions become simpler and colder in the upper villages.

Group members naturally walk at different speeds, so everyone is not expected to remain together step by step. The guide manages the group's pace and regrouping points while making sure trekkers reach the planned overnight stop. The most demanding part is usually the early start from Dharmasala, the climb to Larkya La Pass, and the long descent toward Bimthang.

Essential Gear Checklist for Group Trek to Manaslu

Packing for the Manaslu Circuit requires preparation for warm lower valleys, cold high-altitude mornings, changing weather, and the crossing of Larkya La Pass. During the day, you should carry a small daypack with water, extra layers, sun protection, snacks, and other items you may need before reaching the next teahouse. Porter service is optional and can be arranged separately if you prefer support with your main trekking bag.

Clothing Layers for Changing Conditions

Layering is important because temperatures change considerably between the lower Budhi Gandaki Valley and the higher villages. Pack moisture-wicking base layers, a fleece or insulating mid-layer, a warm down jacket, and a waterproof outer shell. Trekking shirts, thermal leggings, and comfortable trekking trousers are useful for walking days. Bring a warm hat, sun hat, lightweight gloves, insulated gloves, and a buff or neck gaiter for wind and dust.

Footwear

Bring comfortable, well-broken-in trekking boots with good grip rather than wearing new boots for the first time on the trek. Lightweight sandals or camp shoes are useful around teahouses in the evening. Pack several pairs of moisture-wicking trekking socks, including at least one warmer pair for the higher sections of the circuit.

Sleeping Essentials

Teahouses provide basic bedding and blankets, but rooms are not heated and nights become much colder at higher elevations. A warm sleeping bag rated around -10°C (14°F) is a sensible choice for the main trekking seasons, particularly for Samdo and Dharmasala. A sleeping bag liner can provide additional warmth and help keep your sleeping bag clean.

Trekking Equipment

A 30-40L daypack is usually sufficient for water, snacks, extra clothing, personal items, and a camera. Trekking poles are useful on steep climbs and descents and can provide additional stability if the trail is wet, snowy, or icy. Carry a headlamp with spare batteries for early starts, particularly on the Larkya La crossing day, and bring a rain cover or waterproof liner for your backpack.

Personal Care and Toiletries

Pack a quick-dry towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable soap, high-SPF sunscreen, SPF lip balm, toilet paper, wet wipes, and hand sanitizer. Menstrual products should be carried from Kathmandu, as supplies can be difficult to find in the smaller villages along the route.

Hydration and Snacks

Carry enough reusable bottle capacity for around two liters of water and bring an appropriate water-purification method, such as purification tablets, a filter, or a UV purifier. Your preferred energy bars, nuts, dried fruit, or other compact snacks can also be useful between teahouse stops.

First Aid and Personal Medications

Our guide carries a basic first-aid kit, but you should also bring your personal medications and any items you regularly use, such as blister treatment, rehydration salts, and basic personal first-aid supplies. If you are considering altitude medication such as acetazolamide (Diamox), discuss its suitability and correct use with a qualified medical professional before travelling.

Electronics and Documents

Carry your phone or camera, a power bank, charging cables, and a suitable travel adapter. Charging is available at many teahouses for an additional fee, but electricity becomes less reliable higher on the route, particularly where lodges depend on solar power. Keep your passport, travel insurance details, required travel documents, and other important paperwork protected in a waterproof pouch.

Benefits of Joining the Fixed Departure Manaslu Circuit Trek in Nepal

One practical benefit of a fixed Manaslu departure is being able to organize the rest of your Nepal trip around a known trekking date. Once your departure is confirmed, you can plan international flights, time away from work, travel insurance, equipment preparation, and any additional days you want to spend in Kathmandu or elsewhere in Nepal.

We recommend arriving in Kathmandu at least one day before the trek begins. This gives you time to attend the pre-trek briefing, check your equipment, complete the necessary preparations, and buy or rent anything you may still need in Thamel. Arriving early also provides some breathing room if your international journey to Nepal is delayed.

A published departure schedule is also useful when planning the end of your trip. Although we follow the scheduled Manaslu Circuit itinerary, trekking in a remote Himalayan region still requires some flexibility. Weather, trail conditions, landslides, road delays, or an individual trekker's condition can occasionally affect the planned schedule, so we recommend avoiding a tight international flight connection immediately after the expected return to Kathmandu.

For solo travellers, fixed departures make planning easier because you can select a date that suits your travel schedule without first finding your own trekking companions. Couples and friends can join the same departure while sharing the trail with other trekkers, and those who need complete flexibility with dates or itinerary changes can choose a private trek instead.

Before you confirm your group departure, our Kathmandu team can advise you on the most suitable arrival date, trek preparation, equipment, insurance requirements, and the time you should allow around the itinerary. This makes a fixed departure particularly practical for international travellers coordinating a Manaslu trek with flights, limited annual leave, or a longer journey through Nepal.

Useful Information about Manaslu Circuit Group Departures in 2026

Permits and Conservation Fees

The Manaslu Circuit requires a Manaslu Restricted Area Permit, Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). Permit fees vary according to the season and current regulations. For our group departures, the required permits are included in the trek cost and arranged by our Kathmandu team before the trek begins. You can learn more about the protected region in our Manaslu Conservation Area guide.

What Our Group Package Includes

Our Manaslu Circuit group package includes the required trekking permits, licensed English-speaking guide, teahouse accommodation, three meals a day during the trek, and scheduled transportation according to the itinerary. Porter service is optional and can be added separately if you prefer support with your main trekking bag. Personal travel insurance, trekking equipment, drinks, charging, Wi-Fi, hot showers, tips, and other personal expenses are not included unless specifically stated in your booking confirmation.

Health and Acclimatization

Our itinerary gains altitude gradually and includes acclimatization time before the group continues toward Samdo, Dharmasala, and Larkya La Pass. Around Samagaun, optional acclimatization hikes may include Birendra Lake, Manaslu Base Camp, or Pungyen Gompa, depending on the day's plan, weather, and how you are adjusting to the altitude. If you develop a persistent headache, dizziness, nausea, unusual fatigue, or other symptoms at altitude, tell your guide rather than trying to keep pace with the group.

Cost and Booking

Our scheduled Manaslu Circuit group trek currently starts from USD 985 per person. Once you select a departure date, our Kathmandu team confirms availability and provides the booking and payment details. Booking ahead is particularly useful for popular October and November departures, when group places and teahouse availability can become more limited.

Responsible Trekking

Carry a reusable water bottle where practical, avoid leaving plastic or other waste on the trail, and dispose of rubbish responsibly. Buying food or locally produced items in villages can support businesses along the route. Always ask permission before photographing local people, and follow your guide's advice when visiting monasteries and other religious sites. Tipping guides and porters is customary but not compulsory and should reflect the service you receive rather than a fixed daily amount.
